Dorothee Schneider and the youngsters
Dorothee Schneider is one of the most successful dressage riders in Germany. At the 2012 Olympics in London, she rode the mare Diva Royal and took team silver, and at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, she rode the gelding Showtime and took team gold as well as being sixth individually in the Grand Prix Freestyle.
Dorothee follows the classical dressage principles in her riding, and she is especially focused on keeping the horse in front of the rider and steady between rein and leg. In this mini-series, she explains some of her training methods, including how she ensures that the horse is in front of her, how she loosens the horse’s back, and how to train your way out of the horse’s natural crookedness.
This series was recorded during the Danish Warmblood Young Horse Championship in 2017, at which Dorothee was a test rider and she is riding a selection of the participating horses.
